We offer a more casual and less formal approach to therapy. We understand asking you to open up about your mental or emotional distress whilst we stare at you for an hour might feel awkward and is a bit odd, really.
Offer therapy online and walk & talk therapy in nature instead.
We will collaborate with you rather than take a clinical “expert” approach and make assumptions or judgments based on your appearance, life experiences, or behaviours.
Say No to stigmatising mental health and your lived experience.
We celebrate your past and who you want to be (we consider lived experience and acceptance of one’s past an important factor for good mental health).
Consider all the aspects of your life (like personal, social, emotional, spiritual, and psychological difficulties) that may contribute to issues rather than understanding your situation solely from a medical viewpoint.
Start with talk-based therapies and include somatic and creative approaches if interested. We will not “assess” you or force a treatment option on you.
Provide a variety of solution-based approaches and psychoeducation.
Work with evidence-based interventions and tools.
Give you advice to improve your mental health and well-being.
Help you identify and improve negative patterns and better understand your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviours - you can access joy despite feeling distressed or experiencing issues!
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals if that’s what you need.
Understand the importance and impact of your sexual orientation, gender identities, religious choices and socio-cultural background on your life.
We acknowledge the impact of financial pressures, social isolation, social media pressure, burnout and lack of access to the right supports on your mental well-being.
We don’t assume your problems are simple, but we work with you to understand life is wonderfully complex and issues are resolvable.
Recognising the stress of societal norms, we focus on helping you be the most unique and authentic version of yourself!
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

Therapy provides you with dedicated time to focus on yourself, your aspirations, and your life goals. Counselling, psychotherapy or mental health counselling is a joint effort between you and a mental health professional to help you improve your quality of life. In therapy, you can address any difficulties or obstacles that you may be facing.
-
Yes! The information discussed during our sessions is confidential and may not be shared with anyone without your written permission except when there is a legal obligation, such as:
to report a serious and imminent threat to the life, health or property of
yourself or another
to report any abuse or neglect experienced by a young person under the age of 18 years and/or
to release client records when required by court order.
Let’s Have a Natter provides you with informed consent documents, including confidentiality information, prior to your first session.
-
Sessions usually last 50 minutes, and during your first session, we aim to get to know you better. You may have already filled in the Let’s Have a Natter Client Intake Form, which will give us an understanding of what brings you to counselling. The first session is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about Liv or the counselling process before agreeing on how we can work together moving forward. How often you attend counselling sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals, though clients often benefit from weekly or fortnightly sessions, which we can discuss in your first session.
-
You can book face-to-face Walk & Talk sessions or online telehealth sessions immediately via the Halaxy health practitioner website or email us.
Common Questions
-
Liv offers individual walk-and-talk therapy sessions, which cost $120 for 50 minutes, and telehealth online sessions, which cost $100 for 50 minutes.
If you need to cancel or postpone the appointment, please give us at least 48 hours notice. Otherwise, you may be charged for the session.
At Let's Have a Natter, we believe therapy is a right, not a privilege. Concession and hardship rates are available. Get in touch to discuss your circumstances and how we can help.
-
Counsellors are not covered by Medicare and we cannot rebate sessions under the Mental Health Care Plan. However, counsellors often charge reasonable prices, in line with allied health practitioners, to negate this, allowing individuals to access more than 10 sessions for a competitive price.
-
Unfortunately, Let’s Have a Natter is not currently a practitioner under private health insurance schemes.
-
We understand psychological evaluations can help individuals recognise themselves, their thinking processes, and find appropriate support to help. We do not, however, complete psychological assessments because a main purpose is to also diagnose mental health conditions and follow drug treatment pathways. We can use our training in the Mental State Examination and Person-Centred Planning nevertheless to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team if that's what you need.
Why “Natter”
It isn’t always easy opening up to a therapist.
We use “natter” to promote a relaxed and friendly approach.
It’s an informal British word for casual conversation or chat. We know the therapy process can be overwhelming, and you might have a mix of emotions, such as discomfort, resistance, shame, and fear. We start the therapeutic process by using a mix of assessment tools and a bit of creative fun, focusing on your comfortability and navigating difficult emotions together.
